Gendo is the commanding officer of NERV. Seemingly, he and his son, Shinji, do not have a mutual father-son relationship with each other.

Fuyutsuki takes command of NERV whenever Gendo is on assignment.

Maya Ibuki Maya Ibuki

Occupation: NERV Operator

One of three NERV operators who survey battle and damage reports on the EVAs during combat. She learned almost all of her computer skills from Ritsuko.

Ryoji Kaji Ryoji Kaji

Kaji is in charge of NERV's Special Investigation Department. He's also Misato's ex-boyfriend.

Toji Suzuhara Toji Suzuhara

Toji is one of Shinji's friends in Tokyo-3 High School. In the original Japanese dialogue, he speaks with an Osakan dialect.

Kensuke Aida Kensuke Aida

Another of Shinji's friends, Kensuke is a military fanatic who always brings his video camera with him wherever he goes.

Hikari is the main representative of Shinji's high school class. She is sometimes thought of as Asuka's only friend in school.

Keel Lorentz Keel Lorentz

Occupation: SEELE Leader
First Appearance: Episode 2 ["Unfamiliar Ceiling"/"The Beast"]

Keel Lorentz is the leader of SEELE, the mysterious organization that owns NERV. Although he believes Gendo Ikari is a major component to the Human Complement/Instrumentality Program, he often questions Ikari's use of the Evangelions in battling Angels.

Yui Ikari Yui Ikari
Age: 27 at time of death in 2004

Shinji has very little memory of his mother because she died when he was only four years old. Yui's body, mind and soul had accidentally fused with EVA-01 in its first testing.

Naoko Akagi Naoko Akagi

Ritsuko's mother. She developed the MAGI supercomputer that resides in NERV Central Dogma. Naoko mysteriously committed suicide before NERV was formed in 2010.

Asuka's mother. Kyoko went insane while testing EVA-02 and eventually committed suicide, which traumatized Asuka at an early age.

Pen-Pen Pen-Pen

First Appearance: Episode 2 ["Unfamiliar Ceiling"/"The Beast"]

Pen-Pen is a penguin who lives in Misato's apartment along with Shinji and Asuka. Misato thinks of him as more of a roommate than a pet.
