Not much is known about Rei Ayanami. Her memories and past records have mysteriously been eradicated.
Cold and unemotional, this albino-skinned girl seems to have no regard for life; carrying out orders and, at many times, risking her life without hesitation or care.
Because of her quiet nature, Rei never makes friends with others. Strangely enough, the only person she confides with is Gendo Ikari.
Designated by the Marduk Committee as the First Child, Rei is the pilot of the EVA-00 Prototype. When she's not piloting an EVA, she goes to Tokyo-3 High School -- the same school where Shinji and Asuka attend.
