The main Evangelion of the story. It's armed with weapons such as a Progressive Knife and Pallette Gun.

Among the EVAs, Unit-01 is probably the most unstable. Seemingly, it possesses its own soul as it goes berzerk without warning. It somehow also manages to reactivate on its own after a power failure. Unit 01 is piloted by Shinji Ikari.
